BBQ Covers

A security blanket for your barbecue

You've spent a lot of money on buying the perfect barbecue or grill, and the last thing you want is for it to be damaged in some way. Barbecues are often susceptible to wandering animals, nasty weather and extreme temperatures. Barbecue covers often stop these "predators" in their tracks so that you can sleep safely, knowing that your grill is protected. But seriously, protecting your investment will ensure that you have delicious barbecued food for many summers to come.

Barbecue covers come in various sizes and lengths depending on what kind of barbecue you have.

They range in price from $20 to $80 and come in two distinct styles:

  • Standard grill covers – basically "one size fits all". These generally protect the upper part of the barbecue, but not the legs, propane tanks or cart.
  • Premium barbecue covers – fitted covers that hang almost to the ground, covering the barbecue, shelves, legs, trays, gas tank and pretty much the entire barbecue cart. These covers are lined to protect the barbecue from extreme temperatures and include drawstrings or snaps to seal the barbecue protectively at the bottom.

If you don't want to buy a premium barbecue cover, you can upgrade your standard one with a gas tank cover, which is a cotton slipcover that goes over your gas tank. These come in many different colors and styles and are usually machine washable.

It's always best to buy your barbecue cover from the manufacturer who made your barbecue, as they will design a cover that will fit your grill specifically. For example, Jenn Air grill covers are designed with custom fits for each model. It can be hard to find a generic cover big enough to fit the deluxe 4-burner models that Jenn Air is known for. Jenn Air grill covers also hold up to the same quality standards as their grills, made of heavy duty vinyl with mesh vents to ensure the best protection for your grill. Barbecue covers are typically made of vinyl or polyester with a poly-vinyl chloride (PVC) coating. This ensures that no water or snow will get in to rust your barbecue.

Remember, a clean and covered barbecue will last you much longer than one that isn't taken care of. Keep your barbecue ready to grill those delicious steaks by tucking it in for the night and you'll appreciate the beauty of your grill for years to come.
